With all the hype surrounding AI/Machine learning, its easy to be worried. Afterall, machines replacing humans is scary thought if you perceive that your job is at stake.

Gary Marcus in this Ted talk gives reality check on AI/Machine learning. It is really long way before Machines can entirely replace humans. As humans, we work on “small data”, and use our cognitive capabilities to understand the world around us. Machines on the opposite use “big data” for decision-making, thus fail when offered little or no data.

So, no need to press panic button. Machines will continue to augment our capabilities , just like auto-pilot on commercial airliner.

There is simply no argument to leave human pilot on ground while machines take you around the world. Not yet !!!
